Nominator's project description
| Professor Roger C. Reed, who has just moved to the University of Oxford (UK) is an international authority in the study of materials for designing advanced plane turbines. More specific he is a world-leading material scientist specialized in high temperature materials and nickel-based superalloys as used for jet engines and power generation applications. During his research career of twenty years Reed's major research topics are in the fields of deformation mechanisms in single crystal superalloys under creep and thermal-mechanical fatigue conditions; the analyses of phase transitions and oxidation reactions and quantitative approaches for process modeling for example for models of welding and forging. The Max-Planck-Institut in Düsseldorf will host Professor Reed for his further research on advanced superalloys from the beginning of March 2013. |
